Pool Finish & Colour Layering Process
The outermost protective layer was initially developed for upmarket yacht production. A high-quality pool finish provides UV resistance and protection from scratches and chemical exposure, ensuring the pool retains its original look even after many years.
Compass Pools’ Nova & Bi-Luminite™ technology is designed to deliver superior pool aesthetics through a two-layer color system. The process integrates reflective chips within a transparent pool finish layer, followed by a second, contrasting color layer. This advance prevents color fading and maintains surface integrity. The larger reflective chips provide greater light refraction, creating a brighter, more consistent appearance than standard single-layer finishes.
As of May 2024, all pools have been enhanced with ArmourShield™—an additional vinyl ester resin layer that provides increased protection against UV rays, chemicals, and prolonged water exposure. This upgrade ensures your pool remains vibrant and visually stunning for many years, requiring minimal maintenance.
Ceramic Core Layer
The core layer of Compass Pools is made with ceramic microspheres Originally developed for NASA projects, these ceramic particles provide 100% osmosis protection and can withstand up to 10,000 psi of pressure. This unique composition prevents water absorption and resists chemical breakdown, making this layer a vital part of the pool’s structure.
Carbon Fiber Reinforcement
High-stress areas like steps, folds, and edges are reinforced with carbon fiber mats, a premium material known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, used in aerospace. Carbon fiber’s structure comprises tightly woven carbon filaments, making it five times stronger than steel while remaining extremely lightweight. This advanced reinforcement enhances the pool’s structural integrity, providing maximum durability where needed most and ensuring long-term stability and performance in high-stress zones.
Closed Beam Construction
The entire edge of Compass Pools is built with a closed beam construction, which ensures extreme strength and stability during transport, installation, and throughout its lifetime. This feature guarantees that the pool maintains its form, even under challenging site conditions.

Glass Fiber Matting increases tensile strength, minimizing deformation under stress. The Balsa Wood Reinforcement provides structural support without added weight. The Polyester Structural Layer offers core strength, while the Glass Fiber fiber-reinforced vinyl ester Layer boosts flexibility and impact resistance. The Vinylester Base Barrier prevents water penetration.
